WELCOME Dear Friends It has been another rewarding year for the Hamilton Music Collective and the An Instrument for Every Child (AIFEC) program, and it is my great pleasure to present the Hamilton Music Collective’s 2016 annual report. Hamilton is exploding with creativity and we are proud to be nurturing, with your support, the very roots of the creative culture that is transforming our city. As of 2016, the AIFEC program is oered in 12 inner-city elementary schools and centres in economically challenged areas of Hamilton, providing high quality music instruction to over 500 children and youth on a regular basis. We recognize the value of collaborations with other community organizations, and in 2016 we have proactively developed and expanded our relationships with local and regional organizations and educational institutions. The benets for the Hamilton Music Collective of these collaborations include: Increased access to the AIFEC program for children from the broader community through oering classes at designated Boys and Girls Club locations throughout the City of Hamilton. Performance opportunities for AIFEC and JAMBASSADOR students at community events including Supercrawl and the Hamilton World Music Festival. The creation of new and innovative programming such as the Beats By U! program, which introduces students to the basics of beat making, positive Hip Hop and DJing. The inclusion of regular guest artist performances by Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra musicians and international world music artists in our AIFEC grade 1 classrooms. The launch of free monthly Open Jam for Kids event at the Gasworks oered to all families in our community. ... community
