LESSONS Weekly instructions in small groups taught by professional teaching artists INSTRUMENTS Each student receives an instrument of his/her choice on a free loan basis for the duration of the program ENSEMBLES Students play in ensembles and bands FIELD TRIPS We organize field trips to concerts and cultural events (Wynton Marsalis sound check at Hamilton Place, JUNOfest, The Nutcracker) CONCERTS Students perform in concerts & at community events throughout the year (Supercrawl, HPO community concert) TEACHERS Our teachers are professional musicians and experienced educators GUEST PERFORMERS Local professional musicians regularly visit our Grade 1 AIFEC classrooms for instrument presentations PROGRAM STATS An Instrument for Every Child serves 8 INNER-CITY SCHOOLS / 2 COMMUNITY CENTRES across Hamilton 160 400 80 Volunteer Guest Musicians I like the violin, because it helps me understand the music.
