DESCRIPTION:Brought to you by Lead Sponsor Incite Foundation for the Arts.\nSaturday July 20: Tadioli Duo\n \nHamilton Philharmonic Orchestra violinist\, Suhashini Arulanandam\, and cellist Sybil Shanahan form Tadioli Duo. At this concert the Duo takes listeners on a musical journey of world music featuring a rich variety of masterworks from the Western Classical repertoire\, Argentine Tango and music with South Asian influences. \n  \nAll shows: Saturdays from 5:00 – 6:00pm \nGates Open at 4:00pm\, Rain or Shine. \nNo admission fee. All ages event. \nBeer garden \nOutdoor Stage at The HMC Centre for Performance and Education (The Gasworks\, 141 Park St N\, Hamilton) \nChairs Provided \n  \nThe series is co-curated by members of the HMC and the HPO with the goal to bring vibrant\, accessible musical performances to the downtown community. \nMade possible with the support of Ontario Creates.  \n  \nAbout Tadioli Duo: \nPraised for their “spirited performance coupled with sensitive playing” (Lalanath De Silva\,\ncomposer)\, violinist Suhashini Arulanandam and cellist Sybil Shanahan have performed\ntogether as the Tadioli Duo sincw 2018. The duo presents thoughtfully curated programs\,\ninspired by their deep well of collective musical interests and personal cultural heritages. Their repertoire draws from a rich variety including masterworks from the Western Classical repertoire\, Irish fiddle\, Argentine Tango\, and music with South Asian influences.\nPassionate about music education\, the duo has presented concerts and workshops to elementary and high schools in Southern Ontario\, and each maintains an active private teaching studio. The Tadioli Duo are frequent performers on the Chamber Music Mississauga roster\, performing concerts both in person and virtually since the duo’s inception. \nwww.tadioliduo.com \nAbout Suhashini Arulanandam: \nSuhashini Arulanandam is a member of The Oscar Peterson School of Music faculty\, teaching private violin lessons. She also teaches violin in the Oscar Peterson Program\, founded in 2022. \nSuhashini brings a full and varied musical life to her teaching studio. She has spent over 20 years working as an orchestral and chamber musician. She is deeply committed to transmitting string pedagogy through an anatomically accurate lens\, and admits a healthy addiction to Dounis exercises. She is dedicated to helping violinists grow their musical skills in a holistic and healthy way\, including developing deliberate practice strategies and managing expectations. \nSuhashini has taught and coached for over 25 years. She is a violin coach for the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Regional String Program at Port Credit Secondary School\, and has been a visiting coach for several other youth orchestras. She has developed and/or presented numerous educational performances and workshops for schools in the Peel\, Halton\, and York Region District school board\, as an individual as well as in collaboration with other groups and organizations. \nSuhashini is a longtime member of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. She is in demand in the Toronto music scene\, performing frequently with the Esprit Orchestra\, Thin Edge New Music Collective\, Soundstreams\, Arraymusic\, Tapestry Opera\, and most recently the Montreal-based Ensemble Obiora. A member of the 7-piece tango band\, Solidaridad\, Suhashini has performed in Buenos Aires\, Brooklyn\, and Portland as well as locally with organizations such as the Stratford Summer Music and the Chamber Music Society of Mississauga. She performs frequently with cellist Sybil Shanahan as the Tadioli Duo\, introducing audiences to new and richly impactful voices such as Andalusian composer-violinist Yardani Torres Maiani\, Jessie Montgomery\, and Reena Esmail\, as well as drawing from the cherished repertoire of the Western Classical canon. As a recording artist\, Suhashini can be heard on the Naxos and Centrediscs labels including the Aradia Ensemble’s Juno-nominated Vivaldi: Sacred Music\, Vol. IV\, as well as on Solidaridad Tango’s debut album DISTANCIA\, Sarah Slean’s Metaphysics\, and Tapestry Opera’s Rocking Horse Winner. These have been broadcast on CBC Radio 1 and 2\, Jazz.FM91\, and La 2X4 FM 92.7 Buenos Aires. \n  \nAbout Sybil Shanahan: \nCellist Sybil Shanahan has played the cello for as long as she can remember.  A contemporary performer comfortable across many musical styles\, Sybil runs her own event music business Beaux Strings for which she is a published music arranger of several pops songs for string ensembles.  A travel lover\, Sybil’s lifelong commitment to the cello and the medium of chamber music has provided her with the opportunities to perform around the world\, including much of Canada\, USA\, Europe\, Argentina and South Africa to date.  Between 2010-2020\, she performed and recorded extensively with Ensemble Vivant\, “Canada’s chamber music treasure” (Toronto Star). Her debut album\, Caprice\, was released in 2014 and features several previously unrecorded French Romantic cello duos with Coenraad Bloemendal. \nSybil manages a full private teaching studio for adult cellists is based in Toronto\, and she has been on faculty at Lake Field Music Camp since 2012. As a freelance performer\, she has joined orchestras across Ontario. When not involved in musical pursuits\, she can often be found on her paddle board\, skis or bike\, or tending to her spoiled cats. Sybil completed her University education in Europe. She holds a Master’s Degree from the class of cello soloist Patrick Demenga in Switzerland and a Bachelor from the class of Gregor Horsch in Amsterdam.
