AIFEC String Ensemble

String EnsembleThis new program is for those who are interested in playing in a classical string ensemble.  If you have been playing the violin, viola or cello for at least 1 year and are looking to expand your instrumental skills and learn to play in a group setting, this program is for you. This adventure will be fun, engaging and educational. We strive to create a supportive environment for boys and girls who would like to be part of a unique musical community. In order to find the most suitable placement, we will be setting up a short presentation time; Students will be asked to play a piece of their choice. Depending on demand, String Ensemble may be broken into trios and quartets based on age and skill level.

Why join a classical string ensemble?

Playing in an ensemble equips students with real life qualities, such as collaboration, focus, respect, discipline and confidence. Being a part of a musical community such as this develops greater music sensitivity, creative thinking, builds social skills and character. Unlike playing solo, being part of a bigger group develops an unique ability of polyphonic hearing. Being a part of any musical ensemble gives students opportunities to meet new friends and develop long lasting friendships, a sense of belonging, as well as a greater satisfaction through team work. Collaborating with others ignites passion for music and performance.

AIFEC String Ensemble is provided free of charge to the public. This program is for students ages 8 to 16 with at least 1 year of experience playing a string instrument. Classes will be held once a week for 1 hour.
