AR|2017 OUR STUDENTS AND PARENTS SAY As part of our annual program evaluation we asked our students to complete the following question: • I get to practice hard songs and get better • Music is a lovely thing, it can calm you • It teaches me how to play drums from around the world • I love music! I like playing instruments • I can learn about music and get good at it. I really enjoy it. It’s good to have music after a long week of school • It’s learning a new skills that I wouldn’t be able to learn in school. • I get to learn. If I learn a lot, that means I’m good • When I first came I didn’t know how to play anything, and now I’m good, that makes me feel happy • The sound of music comes to my heart and makes me feel better if I’m mad or sad • It gives me the excitement that nothing else gives me. It makes me feel better about myself more than anything else I could do • It changes my life • It’s fun, it makes me happy when I’m sad • It’s something that’s better than being on the computer at home and I like challenging things We also encouraged parents to give us their input by answering the following question: ? And here are some of the answers we received: • We love this program • She loves her lessons and teacher • He enjoys coming every week and loves playing his trumpet for me at home • He loves to learn a new song every week • He enjoys practicing at home and the lessons, even the understanding of the notes and measurements • It’s fun. She’s learning a skill in music and she seems to have a talent in music • It teaches a different way of thinking and appreciation for art. You are never alone if you have music • Music is part of life. Everyone should know how to play a music instrument • Teaches them to be committed to something • It’s a part of our everyday and is good for your soul • It has made my child confident to learn to play the piano • It gives him a purpose. He is proud of what he has learned • It expresses your inside emotions and makes you more in tune with yourself and intuition • It stimulates her learning abilities and it helps my child stay focused • I heard it helps children with math I love music class because….
