The Hamilton Music Collective and the An Instrument for Every Child (AIFEC) Program are pleased to provide programming beyond instrument lessons as follows:

Jambassadors: (Click to expand) This program will teach youth everything about playing in a band. This includes how to: get ready for, and do an audition, practice songs and write music. Students will also learn how to perform on a stage in a theatre, in front of people. They will play in a group and, also receive individual coaching. They will learn how to present themselves on stage and develop confidence and musicianship. The teachers are experienced, professional musicians. They will teach students details about their instrument, and, also about everything that goes into putting on a great, live show.

AIFEC Orchestra: (Click to expand) AIFEC's concert band program. Music is about playing together - Our instructors lead weekly rehearsals that teach students to listen to each other, follow a conductor, and improve their reading skills. We will make sure your child has an instrument to use! If you dont already have one, you can get one at the first rehearsal. Open to students enrolled in AIFEC lessons and also to any student from the community with at least one year of experience reading music.

String Ensemble: (Click to expand) If you have been playing the violin, viola or cello for at least 1 year and are looking to expand your instrumental skills and learn to play in a group setting, this program is for you. This program is for students ages 8 to 16 with at least 1 year of experience playing a string instrument. Classes are held weekly for one hour. String Ensemble is open to AIFEC students, graduates, and to the public.

Beats By U!: (Click to expand) Teaching the ins and outs of electronic music production and performance. Our instructors mentor teens in the art of creating and performing electronic music using laptops and midi keyboards. Young producers will start from scratch, learning to utilize loops, samples, drum pads, synthesizers, and digital effects to create music. This program is open to youth ages 12-17. No experience necessary. Weekly classes will start from the very basics of music production, leading up to a live performance of their original compositions.

Jam 101: (Click to expand) Jam 101 is a free improvisation focused, fun-filled class offered to aspiring young musicians. Students with no previous experience, as well as those wishing to apply newly-developed musical skills can enroll in our JAM 101 program, which allows participants to explore a variety of instruments such as guitar, bass, percussion, ukulele, drums, and iPad technology, all the while learning how to improvise and create music together.

Music for Wellness: (Click to expand) Through song-writing and other forms of musical expression, youth aged 11 - 15 will be guided by a certified music therapist to write and produce their own song as a way to express their feelings and enhance their overall wellbeing. Great for musicians and non-musicians alike who are interested in songwriting and creative expression!

Guitar Studio:(Click to expand) Guitar Studio is offered to students in grades 5 - 8 as an extension of the AIFEC program. This class is open to any student with at least two years’ experience in playing guitar or ukulele and is led by one of our skilled AIFEC guitar instructors. Classes take place on a weekly basis in small groups of 4 - 6 students.

Piano Studio:(Click to expand) Piano Studio is offered to students in grades 5 - 8 as an extension of the AIFEC program. This class is open to any student with at least two years’ experience in playing piano and is led by one of our skilled AIFEC piano instructors. Classes take place on a weekly basis in small groups of 4 - 6 students.

Vocal Studio:(Click to expand) Vocal Studio is a new program offered to students in grades 5 - 8 who are interested in learning with a skilled AIFEC vocal coach. Students will learn their own songs, group songs, and learn useful warmups, techniques, and exercises as part of their journey to find their voice. Classes take place on a weekly basis in small groups of 4 - 6 students.

Recording Arts 101:(Click to expand)This one-semester program is open to students interested in learning to record their own music from start to finish. Students will learn the five stages of recording including pre-production, working with instruments and vocals, editing, mixing, and mastering. Students may record their own music or work with a guest. Offered to students ages 12 - 17.

Live Sound 101:(Click to expand) This one-semester program is open to students interested in the behind-the-scenes of live concerts. Students work with an experienced audio engineer and gain hands-on experience in running live sound as part of a show. Students will learn how to use a professional sound board, how to use microphones on a variety of instruments, and how to set up a professional stage in a top-of-the-line music venue. Offered to students ages 12 - 17

Drum Studio:(Click to expand) Drum Studio is offered to students in grades 5 - 8 as an extension of the AIFEC program. This class is open to any student with at least two years’ experience in playing drums/percussion and is led by one of our skilled AIFEC drum instructors. Classes take place on a weekly basis in small groups of 4 - 6 students
