Our programs are designed to create music opportunities for children and youth in Hamilton’s neighbourhoods with the greatest need and fewest resources. Through their engagement with music, children become self-motivated lifelong learners, build self-confidence and become active members of their community.
Our core program An Instrument For Every Child (AIFEC), delivered through partnerships with Hamilton school boards, provides hundreds of children with classroom or online instruction, via weekly grade one music classes and private instrument lessons in grades 2-4. We loan out the instruments and the students get to take home their own violin, trumpet, guitar or other instrument of their choice. The AIFEC program is provided at no cost to the student or the school.
Our advanced programming provides older students with opportunities to play in a rock band, classical string ensemble, or open mic setting. We are excited this year to expand our offerings in-person at The Gasworks to include Beatmaking and Production, Recording and Technology classes, and Songwriting classes. We are also now offering affordable group lessons in guitar, drums, piano, and vocals for intermediate students.
Our advanced programs are open to the public and have a fee of approximately $10/class in order to cover the cost of instrument loans, with scholarships available for families in need.
