Our programs are designed to create music opportunities for children and youth in Hamilton’s neighbourhoods with the greatest need and fewest resources. Through their engagement with music, children become self-motivated lifelong learners, build self-confidence and become active members of their community.
Our core program An Instrument For Every Child (AIFEC), delivered through partnership with Hamilton school boards, provides hundreds of children in identified high-needs schools with classroom instruction, through weekly lessons in grade 1 and private instrument lessons in grades 2-4. The AIFEC program is provided at no cost to the student or the school.
Our advanced programming provides older students with opportunities to play in a variety of settings such as a rock band, classical string ensemble, or open mic. We have greatly expanded our offerings in recent years to include AIFEC Orchestra, beatmaking and production, and songwriting classes. We also offer affordable group lessons in guitar, drums, and piano for intermediate students.
Our advanced programs are open to the public and have a fee of approximately $12/class in order to cover the cost of instrument loans, with scholarships available for families in need.
