AIFEC in Schools

Since our first school in 2010, the An Instrument For Every Child program has and continues to provide elementary school children in Hamilton’s challenged neighbourhoods with the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. Lessons are provided for free by professional musicians, on an instrument of the child’s choice which is provided on a free-loan basis. Classroom instruction for over 650 inner-city school children is enhanced by featured guest performers from Hamilton’s art community and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra during weekly Grade 1 AIFEC classes.

The AIFEC program is a completely free program for the schools, parents, and students. It is offered to grades 1-4 in one of our partner schools, or at a community centre such as the Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club or The HMC Centre for Performance and Education at The Gasworks.

The program works with 16 schools across three school boards.
